When indexing births, do I index the ones with only the slave owners name, & babies birth date?

It is most helpful if you include a batch code (letters/numbers in brackets after the project title) or a URL link to your batch so helpers can see what you are seeing and read the project instructions.

Usually in these projects there is an instruction to index the record even if the primary person's name is not listed. In that case you would index blank for the names, index the date, and sex if available. Example from other projects: If a record does not include a name for the primary person, you should still index the record, marking the primary name fields blank and indexing other names, such as names of the parents, along with any other fields that are present on the record.

If there is a field for the owner's names, you would index the name. Some projects involving slaves and owners will have specific project instructions on how to index the father's names or the slave owner names.

To get the most accurate answer, please share that batch code.
