I have friends that are interested in family histories. I would like to help them get started.

Should I simply ask them to give me a name of one of their deceased relatives, pull it up and build from there. Or is there a better way? My friends are not members of the church but are interested in research. Thank you.

    Hello @LinBow

Thank you for posting your question here in the community. You could help your friends open their own FamilySearch account and help them build their tree in their own account. You do not have to be a member of the church to have a FamilySearch account.

We hope that this information will be helpful to you and your friends.

@LinBow , I agree with @WJRoth , have them start their own Familysearch account. They will be adding some Living to build back to the Deceased on the FamilySearchS-Family Tree. You can use the Helper function with their user name and their 5 digit helper ID. Otherwise those of their Living you put in will not be visible to them.
