How can a person be removed from my tree?

Because of a Census taker error and transcription error, an erroneous person is in my family tree.

It says I cannot delete them because there were too many contributors.

John H Shiner

1911 – Deceased • G4D3-YN6

There is no JOHN H in this family.

Page one the census taker has John Skiner as head of household. My grandma Mamie and her son Reuben are after that.

Whoever transcribed it thought the k was an H.

Then make matters worse, on continuation page 2 of the census, the census taker used John H, (the fathers name) instead of uncle Herman Lemont who was born in 1910. Then my grandpa James and uncles Arthur and Alvin and aunt Maria are last.

There is NO JOHN H SHINER. This person/entry needs to be removed please

Instead of deleting the person, you have several choice to remove an individual from your family line. If this "wrong" person is linked as a child to parents to whom the wrong person does not belong, then you can delete the relationship. You may find the instructions by visiting the Help Center and using search term correct parent child. or use this link ,

How do I correct parent-child relationships in Family Tree?

If the wrong person is in the position of a spouse, again search term would be wrong spouse

A person in Family Tree has the wrong spouse

But if this wrong person is a duplicate of someone already in the tree, then the best procedure is to merge the two records into one person..

How do I decide if two records in Family Tree are about the same person?

How do I merge possible duplicates in Family Tree?

Hope this will solve the problem of an unwanted guest on your tree.

I suggest you simply merge the profile with whichever family member is actually represented by that line of the census.
