Correcting errors in an entire batch.

We are having a sesquicentennial celebration in Tempe, AZ. I am having a problem with the indexer who did our 1920 census. How do I report these errors for bulk corrections?

  1. The indexer entered the state and county but did not enter the city name although it is written on every sheet as the incorporated place.
  2. For some reason, the census taker listed the ages of young children in the format "5 9/12", "1 3/12", etc. The indexer only entered the year, i.e. 5 or 3. So it can look like the mother was 12 when she had the child.

This is not just causing us research difficulties; when someone has already created an entry for the child in the FS tree, this 1920 census is never attached.

@Rene Greer Williams The issues you report about the 1920 US Census index are not considered errors. Each indexing project had certain guidelines for the indexers. Sampling some entries for the 1920 census, it looks like it was indexed with only county and state across the board. Likewise, it appears that all children's ages were entered without the fraction.

The less-than-complete index serves the purpose for which it is intended. It allows users to find their ancestors and relationships. Since the images are available to view online, users can view the census page images to find further details that were not included in the index.

Not sure what you question is as far as children who show on Family Tree not having the 1920 census attached as a source. Users of the website who might have entered the people into Family Tree would be the ones to find and attach sources. There is not automatic creation of Tree records from census records nor automatic searching for people on the census in Tree in order to add the census as a source.
