Need help adding a child to Founding Father Benjamin Rush's tree. Read only file?
Hello. Please forgive me if this question has been answered somewhere else. I couldn't find a clear answer. I am researching the life of Benjamin Rush (1746-1813, Pennsylvania) his ID is LVMM-S2V. He was a signer of the Declaration of Independence and the first surgeon general of the United States. This amazing man is not in my family line, but as I studied his life, I felt inspired to make sure all of his temple work was done. Family search shows that he had 12 children with his wife Julia. Most other records confirm that he actually had 13 children. His last child William Rush (1801-1864, Pennsylvania), is not listed in Benjamin Rush's tree. There is no way to add William, since the tree is "read-only". Is there a way around this? Of note, I found a separate page for William Rush on Family Search, with ID LJ1T-BZ3. This is clearly the missing son, but this page is also "read only". I cannot connect the two. I used the Family Search chat feature looking for help and was directed here. Any suggestions?

Community responder (not Familysearch whom you need): Your question will likely be routed to another group. Generally we are instructed to not 'worry'/edit Tree information of 'famous/well-known' people. I think once you get to the Familysearch group/support to handle your inquiry - you can supply them with your documentation and they can review it for any changes on the 'read-only' record(s).

Here is a "Knowledge Article" in 'FamilySearch':

I hope this helps, somewhat.
