Indexing PROBLEMS with "US, Missouri, Various Counties— Obituaries, 1880–1990 [M36M-1HQ]"
I'm currently indexing "US, Missouri, Various Counties— Obituaries, 1880–1990[M36M-1HQ]" and noticed that, although there are many obituaries in the project that include the names of the deceased's great-grandchildren, there is no option for entering in the names of their great-grandchildren. I think that is a mistake because it's a lost opportunity in recording the great-grandchildren of the deceased in those records.

i don’t have time to look at the batch, but great-grandchildren are indexed with the relationship grandchild (or grandson or granddaughter) as appropriate. So they can and should be indexed.

Thanks for sharing your batch. John is correct, every name is to be indexed on the obits and the nearest relationship indexed, or non-relative if there is no relationship stated.
A couple of other things I noticed: We are supposed to expand the abbreviations and correct errors on place names, like Mountain View, Missouri. Stultz is a maiden name on entry 3 so the surname is Stultz Miller. We wouldn't index the quotation marks. The brother and sister and all of the son-in-laws will not have surnames indexed in the first obit. If the obit said "Ruby and Woodroe Shoults" then both would have the surname Shoults. But, with the use of Ruby Shoults and her husband Woodroe, only Ruby's Surname is indexed. On the next obit, you can index the day as the date of death (Jan 18 1986). We index the most recent date when there is no death date. You don't index Jr with the given names. These are ignored since there is no suffix field. Also, we can't use names to determine gender so the relationships on 43-48 are child, grandchild, and sibling. I see you haven't really started the final obit, but, the deceased's maiden name can be indexed since we see (nee Dinkins) and those 6 sons will not have surnames attached to them.
Hope this helps and Happy Indexing!
P.S. There are quite a few extra instructions on how to index these fields in the field helps. Once you click on a field, then click on the purple question mark that appears to get more instructions!

@IsaacHemingway Thank you for the question about indexing the names of great-grandchildren in the US Missouri Obituary project.
You have already been given some great advice. I would like to add one more thing that might be helpful.
If you scroll down further in the Projects Instructions. the 12th bullet point has a hyperlink to a graphic that offers more help on Indexing obituaries. In the bottom right-hand corner it states "Select the closest relationship from the list. For example, if a relative was listed as a stepson or adopted son, which is not on the list, then index him as Son."
On the batch, you are working on the great-grandchildren and the one great-grandchild should be indexed simply as grandchild since there is sex listed.
I hope you find this information helpful. Thank you for helping with FamilySearch by indexing records. It was helpful that you added the batch code. Please let us know if you have more questions.
