batch disappeared
I was indexing a batch today and wasn't finished but got off the computer and when I got back on later the batch was gone, I was trying to figure out what happened to it, I know that some times batches have been returned but this had no explanation, does anyone know why this could happen? thank you
added information - they were obituaries and there was a 95th birthday celebration with a picture and there was an article that was upside and I didn't get a look at what it was

I'm thinking that maybe someone else may have checked out that same batch and fully indexed it, causing it to disappear since it had already been indexed and didn't need anything more. I don't know for sure if multiple people can work on the same batch separately, but if so, then my guess is that somebody else finished it.

no one else has it to index unless I would have sent it back, I am thinking that because there was a 95th birthday celebration article with a picture and there was an upside down article maybe that is why it was taken back, you don't compete with someone else to finish the batch before you do or the other way around, this was an obituary project,

If you've had the batch for a while, then maybe your time ran out and it was sent back, but if you just started today on that batch, then I don't think that could be the case.

the time could have run out, thanks for reminding me about that

Only one person can download a batch. No one else can work on the same batch that is in your My Batches. It would not have been taken back because it had a birthday article. The computer doesn't know what is on the image. But, you usually have 7 days from the date you download a batch to complete it. So, if you had the batch for a while, it probably expired. The next indexer will be able to finish it or submit it. The Due Date is on your main page next to each batch. Batches expire at Midnight Greenwich Mean Time so wherever you live determines the time they expire.

but usually it says that the batches have expired but this time it didn't say that though

That is true, it would have shown a message! I guess you will have to chalk it up to one of those gremlins that come out every once in and a while. If it keeps happening, then you might have a problem!

then I wonder did I inadvertently send it back

Hello Pennyrose
The batch disappeared, does anyone know why this could happen?
Sorry you missed this batch.
There is no glitch in the system for now.
When a Batch expires and is taken back, the System Does Generate a message to the Guest that had said batch expired. It will also send a notification through the FamilySearch Notification System (the Bell Icon at the top right of the screen) .
If you got the batch code we would be able to see if it is been finished or submitted.

There is a message when the batch expires. There is no message if the project is pulled.
