Wondering why a lot of the names i search have "null" added to them when searching?
Wondering why a lot of the names i search have null added to them when searching? if i don't notice and change it it shows a lot of weird non relevant returns.
example, search for John Smith, it becomes John Smithnull

Nor sure where you are seeing the "null. When searching for record for John smith. I dont see any null

We are unable to replicate your results using Google Chrome and searching for John Smith. Many results were returned, not unexpectedly considering the name, but none that also contained "null" alongside the results.
Try deleting temporary files and cookies. make sure you have the latest update: Chrome latest update: Version 94.0.4606.71

The "null', in the "Name", for some individuals/persons, is a residual from past iterations of the programme.

Bug in fan chart-"null"

On the fan chart if a person does not have a first name listed, the chart shows the name as "null". I would rather just have a blank.

PS: I know this is only a place holder person and is not a typical way of entering a new person.

The new Genealogical term "Null"

Null Jimmy R. Jones null was born about 1922 in Null, but the original birth date is listed as null. He was born in null and his father was Null William Jones null. His father was born in Null. His mother was a Null and she was born in Null. Jimmy died in Null and was buried in Null.
The word “Null” is a Jewish (Ashkenazic) surname variant of Noll from the German (Nüll, Nolle and Nuelle).
In genealogy, except the limited surname use, the word “null” is not a term used. The exception is FamilySearch.org. They introduced this new genealogical term and people in their copy function and some people, not knowing any different, are beginning to use it.
When you Google the word “null” it means having no legal or binding force; invalid. It is also associated with the mathematical DNA marker value of zero. In electronics null is no or minimal influence of electromagnetic interference of a signal. In archaic computer programming, the term “null” means nothing present or no value given. In programming, seeing the output value of “null” is gross.
In genealogy, seeing the word “null” being used as a title, location and place holder is just plain wrong. But the moral of the story is that this LDS member refused to change their genealogy because they were convinced it was done right.
