My submitted records were easily tempered & merged to wrong family
My submitted Japanese ancestry records were changed & merged to strange family by other people. I have visited all the birth places of my ancestors, then I have read old Japanese government records (I have Old Japanese character dictionary also) & carefully created my ancestry records for church ordinance work & my children who do not understand Japanese. I typed in both Japanese & English so that I can preserve original record information (e.g. many of the city, village, & town names do not exist any more) and also provide English name where current city names are. I have over 400 names submitted, I have to go through all these names one by one, comparing with the old Japanese government records & correct them. I would like to see some additional feature to make it difficult to edit the record from other person (I need to be able to edit as I am the original data submitter & I might need to add more details & information) especially if it is from the government record (that means 100% accurate). From the editor name, he is Japanese North American. I am not sure if he knows Japanese old tradition, e.g. they often practiced to adopt adult male to the family called "Yoo-shi" or "Yohshi" as this adoption information looks strange to North American/European common sense. In my family, I have cases oldest sister did not have any child, she has adopted the youngest son as their heir & he was "Yohshi". I also have cousins marriage. Other one is a man married to older sister, then divorced, then married to younger sister. I hope these relationships are not tempered as it was a bit complicated & strange to many. Also, father & son have the same name, I have a feeling somebody has merged them. Also, most of North American born cannot read Chinese character & merged different person into my ancestor even though the name is completely different (just the last name is different, e.g. John Smith & Isaiah Smith are merged as the same person). When Family search was smaller & controlled better by the church, I didn't see this issue, but it is getting too easy to make changes. I hope You can see my frustration...

This article from the help centre will help you with this issue:
It can sometimes be frustrating working in the shared working environment of Family Tree, but working with others brings many benefits too. FamilySearch has in-built features that help prevent incorrect changes being made by others as described in this article:
Whilst these measures won't prevent every incorrect change, they do help. In my experience the more 'evidence' in terms of sources etc that you add to verify your research, the less likelihood of incorrect changes.
Just as a side issue..... This issue often generates questions, and these may have been answered previously. Just a tip to save you some time......before posting a question, it may be helpful to you to check if this topic has been addressed previously - You can add keywords (in this case 'incorrect merge' or 'prevent changes' ) to the search bar, and other similarly themed questions will appear and may provide you with a quicker answer.
Hope this helps.

I am just another 'lowly' User/Patron ...
Most of us TOTALLY understand your frustration ...
You are not alone ...
Many of us have had 'wayward' "Changes" made to our "Ancestral" Lines ...
But ...
That Said ...
In relation to your suggested enhancement:
I would like to see some additional feature to make it difficult to edit the record from other person.
Please be aware that ...
Most new (and, some old) Users/Patrons DO NOT understand the basic 'nature' and 'premise' of "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch', when they join in.
Please let me explain ...
[ And, please bear with me; as, I am VERY 'Verbose' ... that is my 'style' ... ]
We do not have our OWN "Tree" in "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch'.
We ONLY have "Branches" (ie. Ancestral" lines), that are interconnected, in this SINGLE "One" World "Tree", for all of us, that is "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch'.
"Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch' is NOT like 'On-Line' "Websites" (eg. "Ancestry_com"; or "MyHeritage_com"; or, the like); and/or, 'standalone' personal (computer) programmes (eg, the OLD, now no longer supported, "PAF"; or, "Ancestral Quest"; or, the like).
We DO NOT have "Private"/"Personal" 'Trees' in "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch' like other 'On-Line' "Websites"; and/or, 'standalone' personal (computer) programmes.
We do not even, own; or, manage; and, are NOT even responsible for, the "Deceased" individuals/persons in "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch'.
And, most importantly ...
We DO NOT even, own; or, manage; and, are NOT even responsible for, Our OWN "Deceased" Ancestors/Family/Relatives in "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch'.
"Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch' is built on a "Open Edit" Platform - hence, why any registered User/Patron can "Edit" (ie. Add, Delete; and/or, Change) ANY "Deceased" individual/person in "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch'.
Therefore ...
As such ...
Apart from continually, (1) addressing/fixing; and, (2) "Collaboration" (ie. Communicating) with the User/Patron, who may the 'wayward' "Changes", just in case you are not aware ...
The best thing to do, is to "Watch" (oops, sorry, 'old school', these days, "Follow") our most important Family members and Direct Line Ancestors.
We can "Follow" up to a MAXIMUM of x4000 individuals/person at any one time.
We get, a Weekly "Notification", from 'FamilySearch', of ALL the "Changes", to those that we "Follow".
Or, better still, we can literally, "Check" the "List", of those that we "Follow", on a Regular Basis (eg. "Daily", if one desires), to keep on top of, any 'wayward' "Changes", that need addressing/fixing.
By the way, I "Check" the "List", of those that I "Follow", on a DAILY Basis, it is quick; and, it is very easy; especially, if there has been nothing of note.
More often that not, nothing needs to be done; but, at least, I have the opportunity, to be abreast of things; almost, as if, they happen/transpire/unfold.
I actually use BOTH.
I receive the "Weekly", Notifications.
But ...
That Said ...
I also "Check", the 'status' of ANY "Changes", for those that I "Follow", on a DAILY basis.
[ So, that said, I am already on top of, the "Changes"; BEFORE, I even receive the "Weekly", Notifications. ]
It is brilliant.
I CANNOT "Stop" the "Changes"; but, at least, I can be onto them, almost; as, they happen.
Well, often, soon enough to 'Stay' any real 'Damage'.
Here are some "Knowledge Articles" in 'FamilySearch':
How do I follow or unfollow a person in Family Tree?
https://www.familysearch.org/help/helpcenter/article/can-i-follow-an-individual-in-family-tree
How do I view all the people in Family Tree I am following?
https://www.familysearch.org/help/helpcenter/article/how-do-i-view-all-the-records-i-am-watching
How do I find out who else is following a person in Family Tree?
https://www.familysearch.org/help/helpcenter/article/who-else-is-watching-my-ancestors-record
Unfortunately ..,
None of us are PERFECT.
We ALL make MISTAKES.
As an aside ...
Really, none of us want to have our "Ancestral" Lines 'messed up'; but, unfortunately, it happens.
That is exactly why, many Users/Patrons, ALSO maintain their own PRIVATE "Database(s)" (ie. Copies) of their "Ancestral" Lines , on 'On-Line' "Websites" (eg. "Ancestry_com"; or "MyHeritage_com"; or, the like); and/or, 'standalone' personal (computer) programmes (eg, the OLD, now no longer supported, "PAF"; or, "Ancestral Quest"; or, the like).
Now ...
All That Said ...
The basic 'nature' and 'premise', of "Family Tree", of 'FamilySearch'; being, a SINGLE "One" World "Tree", "Built" upon an a "Open Edit" Platform - hence, why ANY "Registered" User/Patron can "Edit" (ie. Add, Delete; and/or, Change) ANY "Deceased" individual/person in "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch', is unlikely to change.
I know that this does not help; but, I hope that this gives you some perspective; and, some avenues to pursue in maintaining your "Ancestral" Lines, in 'Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch'.
