Historical records
My father passed away unexpectedly and did not export the information to my mother’s family search account before his passing, thinking he still had time to do so. Due to this oversight and very sudden passing, my mother has lost years of information they gathered that included records of family members of both sides, who are deceased and that of those alive today. These records included their siblings, cousins, aunts, kid, etc. Since my mother lives in Chile, she reached out to someone regionally that could help, and was able to export only the names of those who are deceased, all the information regarding the sibling, cousins, that are still alive, us kids and grandkids, did not transfer. This loss and the sudden loss of her husband of 57 years has been very hard, since working together to find this information brought them so much joy and now it is gone. My mother would request assistance to try to transfer this information to her account.
Very Respectfully

Very sorry for your loss.
Did he have an LDS member account on FamilySearch, or just a regular account? That makes a difference.

Thank you. Yes he did.

Hi Michelle,
Condolences to you and your family.
Is it possible that some of the record added by your father include sources, such as census records, obituaries, and so forth. They may give you some additional names to add.
You may also wish to communicate with other contributors to to your ancestors records. We are enclosing the article about contacting other contributors for directions.
Good luck in locating the lost information.

Good afternoon, Michelle. We are sorry for the loss you have experienced.
One other thing to keep in mind about the names and information about those who are still living that your Mother entered into her FamilySearch account is an overlay we have called "Private Spaces". That program protects the identity and information about living people in FamilySearch.
The following article will give you more information about how it works and what you need to know.
A consideration for those of you in your family trying to carry on the tradition of family history including keeping living people and their families updated is to keep your records and information in your own private genealogy program. That way, all the details you enter are there no matter what. If you follow the link below you will find some choices of third-party software programs to choose among. Those listed there still work with FamilySearch.
We hope this has been helpful to you. Best of luck, Michelle.

Michelle,
It is also important to keep in mind that all of the information added by anyone regarding deceased ancestors is still in Family Tree. If you can connect your mother's record in FamilySearch to her first generation of deceased ancestors, she will see all the information that your father has added into Family Tree for all the deceased people. Those records are not tied to any individual's account. Your father did not have "my tree" since FamilySearch/Family Tree is only one single tree. Hopefully, the information that is not accessible is for living people and information about living people can usually be regenerated by someone who knows those living people.
