UK Middlesex Part A Baptisms. Child's surname

Not a question as such but an observation.

The example given in the Field Help for indexing a child's surname in Middlesex Part A Baptism records doesn't match what is said in either the Field Help or the Project Instructions. The examples in the Project Instructions do match. Such a simple thing can cause confusion and must make more work for others before anything can be published. This isn't the first project where this has happened and I wonder why nobody seems to check that everything matches, especially where instructions are exceptions to the general rules of indexing.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We will pass it on to the people who need to know.

It is very important when you post a question like this to send us the Share Batch number which can be found after the name of the batch. Even though some instructions can be confusing, it helps us to be able to look at each batch when questions arise.

Unfortunately most of the current batches I’m reviewing are marriages. I will send a Share Batch number as soon as I come across a Baptism batch again. Obviously this problem is not confined to only one batch, it is an instruction problem throughout the project - actually just a problem with an example that doesn’t match the instructions.

This has been an ongoing problem and there have been several discussions about it. The Middlesex Parish Record instructions and examples need to be reviewed by headquarters and fixed. They fixed the Herefordshire project so everything matched and made sense within 24 hours of notification. Why can't the same thing happen with all the Parish Register projects? Actually, they all need to be reviewed and compared for accuracy.

Any shared batch will work, all someone has to do is download one and click on Baptism as an entry field and look at the field helps and the examples.

Here's one. I'll leave it in my cache until it expires on Oct 17th if that is helpful.
