REcord that date apppears to have wrong date.
I found a record of a burial of a John Whaite in Diss,Norfolk 16 Oct 1696 son of John Whaite and Susanna Clement.
Unless there are two lots of John Whaite's and Susanna Clements the date appears to be incorrect John Whaite KH9M-Q31 was born about 1765 and Susanna Clement(s) KZD8-2VX born 1767.
Doesn't make sense?

I think you might be getting confused. It's easy to get confused - I do at times. Take a step back and all will become clear.
Read all that I have written before you bite your tongue in frustration thinking "I know all this already."
John Whaite KH9M-Q3J (not Q31) is the son of John and Rebecca Waites as shown in the Source document you attached 27 Sept 2021. He isn't the son of the other people you named in your post above.
He was christened 1 May 1765 as the source shows (the one you attached)
That christening comes from digitized film 4008142, John is on digital image 987 just over half way down the left hand page. To read the entry, go into the source you attached then click on the image displayed then hunt down the page for him (May 1)
The burial record you refer to is the indexed version of a record, (meaning the film has been read by volunteer doing some indexing to make records searchable. The film it is meant to be on, is the same film as the christening record for John Whaite comes from. The Burials for 1696 are on digital page 855.
I've looked at the digitized microfilm that the indexed version has "supposedly" come from but can't find any entry on the film for John. See my attachments - it shows you two pictures of what I mean. I wanted to view the record to see if it named the parents but can't see any entry for a John Whaite dying at all.
You've already figured out that logically it can't be the death of your John Whaite and you are right. The mystery of where that record has come from might never be solved.
More time spent in FamilySearch will teach you lots and puzzle you often. Good luck. Gail Hellings
