It is ridiculous I cannot add my living spouse or add living relatives without creating duplicates!
I get protecting privacy, but if I have their ID, and they can't be found via search, then they clearly gave it to me and I should be able to add them as my spouse.
Even Facebook figured out 20 years ago you just send a "this person has listed you as their _____, is this correct?" notification, and both parties have to agree.
Really, why even have ID numbers if they don't matter? Seems like a waste of a great data point. With how much marriage happens in the church, it should be a fun and enjoyable day-after-the-wedding activity where the two newlyweds join their FamilySearch accounts! Instead, we just have to tell our kids 60-80 years from now to do it for us. I just think it's squandered opportunities. Plus how many unresolved duplicates have this created? Probably countless every year.
