Hi, I am a historian. I intend to use several images that I downloaded from your website as illustrations in an article that I will publish next year. What is the protocol of getting the copyright for use the images as illustrations? Thanks a lot.

The article will be published on a top-tier academic journal in my field.

@yx1 Please review the FamilySearch Terms of Use (Updated 2021-09-27) which can be found at the bottom of most FamilySearch pages. You may also use the link provided below:

I have a similar question, as I am writing a genealogy that I plan on publishing. Can I use images of death ledgers and deeds I found on FamilySearch in my book?

The death ledgers that are scanned to FamilySearch for the state of New Jersey are also the exact same thing I can take images of at NJ State Archives. NJ State Archives said I am free to do what I want with the images, but the exact same images that are on FamilySearch that can only be accessed from an FHC/FHL, I think are not to be shared without permission from FamilySearch? Is that correct? FamilySearch scanned the images from NJ State Archives, though. Does anyone know?

Oh, also wanted to add, because Trenton is far away from me, most of my images are all from FamilySearch. I only make the trip to state archives a couple times a year. I did read terms of service on FamilySearch, but there is nothing specific in regard to death ledgers and land records
