Will more military records be available in the future?

I'm looking for more recent US Marine Corps Muster Rolls, specifically from the years 1947 through 1967. According to the National Personnel Records Center in St. Louis, Missouri, my father's military records were destroyed in the 1972 fire although I read recently that it was the Army records that were destroyed and he was a Marine. At the time I requested his records, I received two DD 214 and a DD 1300 from them. I'm trying to reconstruct his service record to the extent possible through records such as the muster rolls, monthly personnel rosters, and unit diaries. Ancestry has some of the muster rolls from 1947 to 1958 but I was wondering if FamilySearch has additional records not yet on line.

    Dear @SandraWonder1,

Unfortunately we do not know what records will be indexed and available in the future according to this article from the FamilySearch Help Center...

    https://www.familysearch.org/help/helpcenter/article/what-are-the-upcoming-indexing-projects

The best we can do is keep searching and hopefully the records you are looking for will become available someday.

    Best Wishes!
