"forbidden" message
When I am looking up information about a relative I go to Sources, and if it is death information I click on a provided link, www,wvculture.org. I have found many of my ancestors death certificates that way. For the last three days I have received a "forbidden" message when I try to go to that site. Does anyone know what has happened? 😕

I believe the problem is that wvculture.org abrubtly revamped its entire site, breaking every single link that people had saved. See this discussion at WikiTree: https://www.wikitree.com/g2g/1302135/west-virginia-culture-website-not-accessible?show=1302135#q1302135

Hi Marilyn
We am not a user of this site, but entered the URL that you provided, chose the option to search for Vital Records.
I then chose "Deaths".
This message followed social security numbers available for viewing online, we have blocked searching for all death records less than 50 years old. The 1964 deaths will become available on January 1, 2016.
We used Google Chrome for the search, latest version 94.0.4606.54
You may need to change browsers if not already using Chrome.
But - as we did not have any data to enter, perhaps your "forbidden" message appears further along in the system

@MarilynKouvolo There have been several reports of issues with the www,wvculture.org. link. However, if you go directly to that URL, it is possible you can continue your research.

No it will not allow searches. Even 1800 an earlier records already attached to a name come up forbidden when viewing record is what you want. It still comes up forbidden.

@MarilynKouvolo We have reported the error in 3 of our West Virginia record collections that have a bad link to the wvculture.org website. We hope the engineers will soon have it corrected. Meanwhile, you can enter the URL for the site directly into your browser's address bar and search their records. Here is how:
- Go to https://wvculture.org.
- Scroll to find Records and Databases and click Learn More.
- In the Explore Archives and History section, click Births, Deaths and Marriages (databases).
- Click a record type and do your search.
