Batches ready to review
In the past, i've been able to "check out" up to 10 batches so i can review them the next day, saving 10 that i enjoy doing. Lately, the most i have been able to reserve is 2, yet the drop down will show the remaining number of batches to total 10. I've seen nothing that limits how many we can check out at a time; certainly, with the total of ten total to check out, if there was a change, the drop down number to be checked out wouldn't total 10.

I am experiencing this same limit. Some projects have limits on how many batches you can check out. Apparently 2 is the limit for this project.
I rarely check out more than one of anything. If I want to do more, I get another one while the confetti is falling after submitting a batch.

Hi Greg. It is project dependent on how many batches you can check out at one time. Some projects will allow for 10, and others for 2. You can still check out a total of 10 batches, just not in the same project. This change happened in early 2020.

I've been in computers over 45 years, some as a programmer/"coder". I keep thinking some programmer for indexing/reviewing could put some kind of pop-up box on the screen indicating the person has reached the maximum number of checkouts for this particular project; I mean, it already won't let (me) check out anymore so there has to be coding going on that already detected this, just add a message saying so. I'm sure they have more to do than this, but the programmer in me had that going through my head. Thanks for the responses; question answered!

Greg, you could post that in the Ideas section. There's a link on the left side of this page.

When we indexed under the desktop indexing program there was a benefit to checking out a maximum number of batches. For example, If you were planning a (road?) trip and expected not to have WiFi access, you could still index from your stockpile of batches. That can still be an issue, but the Web Indexing program does not address that yet.
With the Web-based indexing, I’m pretty sure the batches you “check out” are not downloaded to your machine (except for the one you’re working on - temporarily) or just “reserved” for you on the servers. The auto-saves during an indexing session are to the FS (or maybe Amazon) servers,. And you can pick up indexing on your iPad where you left off on your Desktop PC. I need to qualify that - the cookies keeping track of exactly where you left off might not be on the second device, So I’m not sure if your exact position is transferred. You might need to look for the last completed Entry on the second device.
Finally, as Dellory pointed out, the checkout limit is not really a limit, since you can keep checking out “similar batches” all day, every time the confetti falls.
