I have been ask by my Ward Family History Leader to teach indexing to the youth. I am a seasoned Indexer but I am self taught and I would like to teach the youth the Church’s preferred way to do indexing. Is anyone aware of any authorized lesson plan or video that is available. I do a lot of review and it’s obvious to me that a lot of people doing indexing could us some training to make the process more uniform.

any help would be appreciated.

Here's an indexing tutorial by Kathryn Grant of the BYU Family History Library and she is very experienced at teaching indexing.

Jason Pierson, who was at the time the product manager for FamilySearch Indexing, has several videos on youtube. Indexing videos. You can Google and find those.

If I were teaching a class on Indexing I would include instructions for using the Icons. I found it much easier to use the icons after I knew what they meant. Before I was afraid I would "break the program" if I touched them. Good luck with your class.
