Can I get a GEDCOM file out of FamilySearch to transfer my information into, say, Ancestry.com or MyHeritage.com?

    Hi @RichardLBerry.

You have asked if you can download information to create a GEDCOM file in Family Tree that can then be uploaded at another website such as Ancestry.com or MyHeritage.com.

As verified in the following article, you cannot download directly from Family Tree to create a GEDCOM.

    https://www.familysearch.org/help/helpcenter/article/how-do-i-download-information-from-family-tree

Please click on the additional links at the bottom of this knowledge article if you wish to find a third-party program in our Solutions Gallery that is compatible with Family Tree. There are several Family Tree Management programs that are certified to move information freely between their program and the Family Tree program. Most of these partners to allowing information to be copied as well as read do allow a GEDCOM to be created.

Because working with a GEDCOM is related to information that is in Family Tree, we will be moving this discussion to the Family Tree category rather than the FamilySearch Community Category. Please don't be alarmed when it shows as Closed in the FamilySearch Community Category after it is moved. It will remain open and active in the Family Tree category so that others can review the discussion and add their comments.
