How many memories are allowed per user?

In Memories Help there is this question: How many memories (photos, stories, documents, and audio files) can I upload?

The Answer is: Each person record has a limit of 1,000 memory tags (or links) in FamilySearch.

I do not understand this answer. What does 'person record' mean?

Does it mean each Family Tree login user can only tag him or her self a maximum of 1000 times?

Each ancestor can have 1000 memories tagged to that ancestor.

Your great grandfather, for instance, can have 1000 memories tagged to him. However, for instance, a story added about your grandfather counts as one Memory but that one Memory can have a huge number of pages.

    Rex

G'Day, I responded, to one of your posts, on 15 August this year.

I just though I would jump in here ...

Further to what 'C D McBride' has already proffered ...

    And ...

    As an aside ...

There are NOW, Two (x2) "Knowledge Articles" in 'FamilySearch', that CONFLICT.

This is the FIRST (ie. ORGINAL) "Knowledge Article":

What are the data limits for people in Family Tree?

    https://www.familysearch.org/help/helpcenter/article/what-are-the-data-limits-on-about-people-in-family-tree

    https://www.familysearch.org/help/helpcenter/article/what-are-the-data-limits-on-about-people-in-family-tree

Where it states, among other things:

    Quote:

    ------------------

In Family Tree, the record for a person has the following data limits:

    • Spouses: 200
    • Parents: 100
    • Children: 400
    • Names, facts, and events in the Other Information section: 200
    • Sources: 200
    • Memories: 1,000
    • Other persons identified as "not a match": 400
    • Discussions: 50
    • Individual notes: 50 (each note can have up to 10,752 characters)
    • Relationship notes: 12 (each note can have up to 10,752 characters)

    ------------------

So, an individual/person can ONLY have x1000 "Memories"

That WAS all good; and, was the case ...

    Whereas ...

    Now ...

This is the SECOND (ie. LATER/SUBSEQUENT) "Knowledge Article":

How many memories (photos, stories, documents, and audio files) can I upload?

    https://www.familysearch.org/help/helpcenter/article/how-many-memories-photos-stories-documents-and-audio-files-can-i-upload

    https://www.familysearch.org/help/helpcenter/article/how-many-memories-photos-stories-documents-and-audio-files-can-i-upload

Where it states, among other things:

    Quote:

    ------------------

Although FamilySearch does not have a limit to the number of items you can upload to Memories yet, if an account has more than 5,000 memories, the system can perform slowly.

[ And ... in relation to your 'Query' ... ]

Each person record has a limit of 1,000 memory tags (or links) in FamilySearch.

    ------------------

So, now we are informed that there is NO "Limit" to the NUMBER of "Memories" that can be attached/associated with an individual/person.

This is NOT so good; and, very confusing ...

    As such ...

I can certainly understand the confusion ...

Those aforementioned "Knowledge Articles" now CONFLICT, one another.

Those aforementioned "Knowledge Articles" NEED to be updated/synchronised/corrected - whichever should be the case (or, ALL of the aforementioned)

    Wow ...

    As to "Memory Tags" ...

    With my "Limited" understanding ...

And, thinking 'out aloud' here ...

[ And, I could be totally wrong; and, I stand corrected if I am ... ]

    Maybe ...

    (1) There may NOW, be NO "Limit", on the NUMBER of "Memories", that can be attached to an individual/person, in "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch'.

    But ...

    That Said ...

    (2) There many be a "Limit" (of x1000) on the NUMBER of "Memory Tags" (as, opposed to "Topic Tags") that an individual/person, in "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch', can have associated to them.

    Remember:

A "Memory" may be attached to one particular individual/person, in "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch'; but, that particular "Memory" CAN have MULTIPLE individuals/persons "Tagged".

As, I suggest, there is MUCH "Confusion" ...

This WHOLE matter NEEDS to addressed/fixed by 'FamilySearch' ...

    Just my thoughts.

Moderators [ ie. 'FamilySearch' "Support" (Personnel) ]

    FYI

    Considering such aforementioned confusion ...

I would humbly suggest that this WHOLE matter NEEDS to addressed/fixed by 'FamilySearch'.

Hence, I would humbly suggest that this WHOLE matter NEEDS referring to 'FamilySearch' Administration.

Humbly submitted for your immediate, information; attention; and, consideration.

    'Thank You' in advance.

Your cooperation, would be greatly appreciated.

    Kind Regards

    Brett

    @Rex Wayne Shumway

You have been given some great information. I’ll attempt to clarify what Brett commented on.

You can upload as many memories to your memories gallery as you wish, however, as pointed out in the help article cited above, your ability to see & filter your gallery may suffer if you have many memories.

The 2nd issue is how many memories can be tagged to a single ID. See this help article for the definition of IDs.

Any user who can see a person in Family Tree can tag a memory to that person’s ID—up to a maximum of 1,000 memories for that single ID.

1,000 memories per ID includes tags added by “all” persons, not just you, and includes any memories marked as private by any submitter.

So if you and a sibling each tag your mother in 100 memories, but you uploaded 25 of those memories & marked them as private, you would see 200 memories, your sibling would only see 175.
