I believe someone added a child to 9V2L-TDT named Hanna Butler. Other sources say there were only 3 children.

She has been given two sets of parents -first Thomas Butler and Elizabeth Sheffield and second Robert Butler. If you look at Latest Changes on the right of the screen and click Show All, you can see who added the parents. It will be worth contacting them to find out why they consider that they have the correct parents. You can then cite what information you have that might indicate that a mistake has been made. Unfortunately Butler is a common name and too many people have a habit of assuming that the first seeming match is correct

    Hello @CWSIII,

We looked at the record for Hannah Butler 1587–1643 • GH16-YP3 and see that there are no sources listed. If you are able to find sources for this person to confirm which parent is correct, you can add them. If you do not find any sources in FamilySearch but find them elsewhere, you can add them with the instructions in the link below:

    https://www.familysearch.org/help/helpcenter/article/how-do-i-add-an-outside-source-to-family-tree

In order to contact the person who made the changes, you can click on their name (highlighted in blue in Latest Changes) and send them an email or message:

    Steps (website)

    1. In Family Tree or Memories, display the contributor of the information:
      • In Family Tree, from the ancestor's person page, in the Vitals or Other Information section, you see the words “Last Changed,” followed by the date of the most recent change and the contact name of the contributor who made it.
    2. Click the contributor’s contact name.
    3. In the pop-up that appears, you see the user’s contact information if the user made it public. You can use it to contact him or her.
    1. If the contributor did not provide contact information, send a private message through the FamilySearch messaging service instead:
      1. Click Send Message.
      2. Enter your subject and message. You must enter a subject in order for the message to send.
      3. Click Send.

I just want the family tree on my home page to correct. I believe the correct Hanna Butler is 3GJ1-4VN. Can I just delete and replace?

We do suggest that you contact the contributor that added the incorrect source as stated in an earlier post by bathompson. It is possible after you remove the child, it is added in again by the other contributor. They would benefit from your knowledge and they may have information that would be beneficial to you.

DebDT makes a great suggestion to contact the other contributor
