Laptop use at Family History Center
Has the ability to use personal laptops for family tree research Family History Centers been disabled? I'm at a Family History Center right now; it's the first day it's been opened since March 2020. When logged into the center's wifi on my laptop, I'm getting the typical error one gets when trying to access locked records from home:
"To view these images do one of the following:
- Access the site at a family history center.
- Access the site at a FamilySearch affiliate library."
Seeing that I'm at a family history center, I thought I'd have access. When I log in using a computer here at the center, the same records are unlocked. I've tried various ways - making sure I'm only logged in to either my laptop or the center's computer, starting at the standard familysearch.org page and starting at the familysearch.org/fhcenters/portal page. I get the same result no matter which way I try.
I tried to contact live chat, but after being in a chat loop for about 10 minutes, I got a message that no one was available.
(Image added is the error I get when logged in using the family history center's wifi while at a family history center.)
Thank you.
Thank you.

Hi Melissa.
When you go to a FHC and connect to the wifi, you connect to a general use one
The FHC uses a dedicated wifi system that only they have access to.
You will need to use one of the computers at the FHC that are hard-wired into the wifi allowing restricted records to be viewed

Hi Melissa,
The Family History Center should not have wireless connections. You can connect to the meeting house wirelessly, Liahona,
To see restricted records you need to be signed into the Portal and that is only available on Family History Center Computers.
Connecting to Meetinghouse Internet (Liahona) • FamilySearch
Wireless adapter or wireless access point for a family history center • FamilySearch
