Can I find a family search record from their church membership number?
I am completing the temple work for the children of a friend who passed away. I want to connect the childrent o the correct account however I cant seem to find it. I have put in all the information I know about her but nothing comes up. I know she went through the Temple herself a long time ago, and I have her church membership number. Is there any way of finding her family search account using her church membership number?

I am just another 'lowly' User/Patron ...
[ And, I happen to be a Member of the Church ... ]
Short Answer: 'No', NOT in 'Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch'
We CANNOT 'see' the "Church Membership" Numbers of ANY individual/person ("Living"; and/or, "Deceased") in "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch'.
As an aside ...
IF, your Friend's CHILDREN, are STILL "Living"; THEN, you will NOT either, 'see'; and/or, 'find', the CHILDREN in "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch'; as, they are "Living", that is due to "Privacy".
IF, your Friend's CHILDREN, are STILL "Living"; THEN, you will NEED to CREATE "Living" DUPLICATES of them in "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch'; whereby, those "Living" DUPLICATES of CHILDREN will ONLY been 'seen' by YOU; as, they reside in the "Private Spaces" of your 'FamilySearch' Account, again that is due to "Privacy".
I hope this helps, somewhat.

Furthermore ...
For starters ...
Here are some "Knowledge Articles" in 'FamilySearch':
How does Family Tree protect the privacy of living people?
https://www.familysearch.org/help/helpcenter/article/what-is-a-private-space-in-family-tree
What Family Tree features are available in my private space?
Who can see my living relatives in Family Tree?

I hope these help.

I sent you a private message. It's about private spaces (the children) but he is looking for his friend that passed away actual FamilySearch account. I can't find the article about getting into someone else's "account" because of possible living relatives.

Can I transfer my Family Tree private space to another user?
We do not currently have a way for users to transfer ownership of Family Tree private spaces to someone else or designate an heir who can take it over after death.
Protecting someone's private information is a very HIGH Priority.
Nor can someone transfer their private account. However, what has been made public information is different.

Sam,
After reading through your post several times, I'd like to re-phrase your question to what I think you are asking. Please correct this if I am way off base. Since you refer to a friend and to her children and to completing temple work for them, I have to assume that all involved are deceased. If any of them are living, you couldn't do anything at all. That leads me to think you really need to be asking:
I am completing the temple work for deceased children of a deceased friend. I want to connect the children to her correct Family Tree record, the one that shows her personal temple work, however I can't seem to find it. I have put in all the information I know about her but nothing comes up. I know she went through the Temple herself a long time ago, and I have her church membership number. Is there any way of finding her Family Tree record using her church membership number?
As answered above, you cannot find her in Family Tree page using her church membership number.
However, since she was a member of the church and is deceased, she should have a page in Family Tree. If you cannot find it, that generally means that her church membership record never had her death information added to it. That happens occasionally. Ward clerks are busy. People die away from their home wards. People move and never have their records moved to their new wards. All sorts of things can happen.
If you know the ward your friend was living in when she passed away, you can contact the ward clerk in her ward and have him add her death information to her record.
If you do not know what ward that would be, Support here can get it added. You need to send in via private message all the information you have on your friend such as name, birth information, and death information. Providing her church membership record should make it really easy for them to find her. You also need to send proof of her death such as an obituary. After you do, and after they add the information to her church membership record, that will generate a new Family Tree page for her with her ordinance information. All duplicates for her should be merged together so she ends up with only one page.
@Catherine0815: I don't know if all moderators can do the same types of actions. if @Sam Wheeler sends his information to you, can you get this taken care of for him if this is really the issue?
Sam, if you haven't sent any direct messages, to do this just click on the envelop icon in the top right corner of this page then click on the paper and pencil icon that is at the top of the window that pops up.

Yes, I can submit the information to the proper internal department. Sometimes when looking for a persons FamilySearch/Family Tree record more isn't always better and I have learned some tricks and different ways for hard to find relatives. Your post was extremely helpful and a great suggestion I will post another comment to Sam and let him know that I would love to help him .
Again, Thank you so very much for your impressive response. I will send Sam a private message that he can use for his reply and include the private and sensitive information needed. Have a great day.

I will be happy to help you look for your friend in FamilySearch, however I can't use her private church membership record number. I can ask you your friends name, about what year you think she was born and where she/he was born, when and where this person died. and the spouses name. If you would like to private message me with that information. Simply click on my name written in blue, Catherine0815, then click send message and include the above requested information. I will be happy to help you find her public record in FamilySearch. I cannot see the living, the living are private.
If I am unsuccessful, I certainly will submit your request to the internal department that handles these type of situations for further review.
