    FYI

    Welcome to the "Community.FamilySearch" Forum.

    I am just another 'lowly' User/Patron ...

"Replacing" your Grandfather should be reasonably easy ...

Whereas, "Deleting" your ENTIRE "Ancestral" Line, would be impossible ...

As, your "Ancestral" Lines, WILL also be part, of the "Ancestral" Lines of many other Users/Patrons ...

    FIRSTLY ...

Please let me explain, by starting with the latter ...

Here an old 'standby' of mine, that I have previously proffered on occasion ...

    ------------------

Most new (and, some old) Users/Patrons DO NOT understand the basic 'nature' and 'premise' of "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch', when they join in.

    Please let me explain ...

We do not have our OWN "Tree" in "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch'.

We ONLY have "Branches" (ie. Ancestral" lines), that are interconnected, in this SINGLE "One" World "Tree", for all of us, that is "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch'.

"Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch' is NOT like 'On-Line' "Websites" (eg. "Ancestry_com"; or "MyHeritage_com"; or, the like); and/or, 'standalone' personal (computer) programmes (eg, the OLD, now no longer supported, "PAF"; or, "Ancestral Quest"; or, the like).

We DO NOT have "Private"/"Personal" 'Trees' in "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch' like other 'On-Line' "Websites"; and/or, 'standalone' personal (computer) programmes.

We do not even, own; or, manage; and, are NOT even responsible for, the "Deceased" individuals/persons in "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch'.

    And, most importantly ...

We DO NOT even, own; or, manage; and, are NOT even responsible for, Our OWN "Deceased" Ancestors/Family/Relatives in "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch'.

"Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch' is built on a "Open Edit" Platform - hence, why any registered User/Patron can "Edit" (ie. Add, Delete; and/or, Change) ANY "Deceased" individual/person in "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch'.

    ------------------

I hope, that this may provide some additional, insight; and, perspective.

    SECONDLY ...

    Regarding you Grandfather ...

And, with regards to incorrect, "Couple"; and, "Parent-Child", Relationships ...

    For Starters ...

Here are some "Knowledge Articles", in "FamilySearch':

A person in Family Tree has the wrong spouse

How do I correct parent-child relationships in Family Tree?

I hope, that these may help/assist, somewhat.

    Brett

I attempted to delete my grandfather and replace it with the correct one. I just as soon delete the whole tree. How can I do this?

Since it is a shared tree, you cannot delete it. None of it belongs to you -- or to any other user.

When another contributor has made incorrect changes, you can undo many of them from the profile's Change Log (Latest Changes - Show All). You'll likely also need to edit relationships, for which Sanra has already linked the instructions.

You can also contact the person who made the incorrect edits and ask him/her to revert his/her changes, but keep in mind that mistakes are most often due to inexperience, so the person may not know how to make the needed corrections.

    @Ken1Barb

Go to your father or mother's details page where that individual is listed as a child of the wrong grandfather, scroll down to the Family Members section, in the line right of your parent's name, listed as a child, click the Edit pencil, and click Replace beside the grandfather. If you know your actual grandfathers ID number, you can replace it on that screen, or you can fill in the info and click replace. Use the article link below for additional information.

    Good luck.
