Occasionally I receive a thank you note from someone for my having indexed one of their family names. How did they know I was involved?

This is a great question! If you are at just the right spot for a record in Family Tree, you will see an option to "Thank the Volunteer".

    Here are the details:

As a clarification they do not know your name but the internal computer has a link to you showing you indexed that name. They will never have access to your name.
