Hello. Need some help here. Edward Mccabe really lives in the next abode/apartment on that address. He probably is not a son in that family as he is 60 years old and the indexed parents are much younger.

@Anitra Whittle, as you've indicated Edward McCabe is identified separately on the 1881 England and Wales census, and should have been indexed separately and not as a member of the George Ruskin household.

Unfortunately, this is not an error that can be corrected by using the Edit button. It is, in fact, an error that would only be corrected, I believe, by reopening the indexing project and then making the needed changes. I understand that this action will not be taken for these types of indexing errors, particularly as it appears to affect only a single record.

As the index's primary purpose is to indicate that an individual of interest is to be found within a specific document, and to lead us to the individual record of interest within that document; it appears that the index has fulfilled its initial purpose. We agree that, in this case, it certainly did so poorly.

We suggest that in attaching this document and record as a source that you carefully document the indexing error so that others, casually reviewing your source, will not come to the wrong conclusion as suggested by the index.

It appears to be an error on the original 1881 census, not an error in indexing. I agree that it seems unlikely that Edward is the son, given his age, but that is what is on the original document. Indexing cannot change the document.

I would suggest that you put a statement on Edward's profile explaining the apparent discrepancy.

It appears that the Ruskin family are in unit 311 unit 5. Edward Mc Cabe is in 312 unit 5, and The Howard family are in 313 unit 6.

That is what I'm seeing.

I'm sorry. I see that the 300 numbers are the number on the schedule. Barton Court is the address.

Then: The Charles Callerham family lives in 5 Barton Court

The Ruskin family lives in 5 Barton Court

Edward Mc Cabe lives in 5 Barton Court and is listed as son of George Ruskin.

I think that Edward Mc Cabe is misindexed as son of John Ruskin.
