This is a great question and the kind of question that can usually be answered by using the FamilySearch Help Center.
After you sign into your account, please click the Help Icon at the top of the FamilySearch page, then click Help Center. You will see various icons that represent the FamilySearch programs. Click the Family Tree icon, and at the top of the screen type "Watch List" into the search field. [Using quotes will often bring an exact knowledge article to the top of your results list.]
The following URL will also generate the article. Please note that the first bullet statement clearly says you can only watch up to 4000 people.
Some users feel they need to watch everyone that is connected to their pedigree, but often this would be impossible since Family Tree is a Worldwide Tree that is used by everyone. This means there are often ancestors who are connected to our pedigree by extended family members, and they are records that we would not have created.
One of the recent enhancements in Family Tree is the ability to see who else is following ancestors we have on our Following List. You may want to review this additional article which discusses how to use the Following List link at the top of the FamilySearch page to learn who is following a common ancestor. We hope you will find this additional article useful.
If there is not much activity with some of the records you are currently following, you may want to Unfollow them so that you will be able to place someone with more activity on your Following List for a time. Thank you for your question. We hope the articles we have provided will be helpful as you determine how you wish to use the Following feature.

Although some Family Tree observers advocate policing your entire ancestor tree, or even every page you edit here, others advocate following very few pages, if any. A big Following list is a time sink. Why bother?
If a page is getting a lot of edits, that's a good reason to not Follow it. Let others sort it out while you avoid the distraction.

Welcome to the "Community.FamilySearch" Forum.
I am just another 'lowly' User/Patron ...
Short Answer: You CANNOT.
Part of the reason for such, is most likely has to do with that ...
IF, we were ALL able to "Follow" MORE than x4000 individuals/persons in "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch', at ANY given 'Time'; THEN, the "Load" on the "System", by MANY Users/Patrons doing so, would be MASSIVE and "Cripple" the "System", to the extent that the "System" would SLOW to a "Crawl"; and, be next to USELESS.
Could you just imagine, the STRAIN on the "System", with countless Users/Patrons, "Following" Hundreds of Thousands of individual/person, at any given 'Time' - it would be MASSIVE.
I "Check" the LIST of those that I "Follow" on a "Daily" Basis - just image EVERY User/Patron doing the SAME.
Just my thoughts.
Brett
ps: Maybe, one day in the future, the LIMIT will be significantly INCREASED; but, I suspect not for a very long time.
