Finding family history using file numbers

My next step would be to work on the profiles of descendants that already have some sources attached.
For example, MJL3-SBR Wilhelm Kocks.
Wilhelm Kocks has a source attached that includes his birth year, but it has not been entered on his profile. Also standardize his marriage date and place. Notice that all his siblings were married in the same general area. That is a sure sign that his parents lived there. Enter that area on his parents' profiles. Estimate his parents' ages. I like to round to a decade, so I would give Hendrich Kocks MJL3-S1K and Margaretha Franken MJL5-6K2 the birth year "about 1800".
Next, using just one surname, birth place, and a bracketing range of years, search historical records:
Search results with the little tree icon to the right are historical records linked to person IDs (PIDs) in Family Tree.

Research help to find your ancestors in FamilySearch is available in many different ways. Please click on the following link to find good information and additional links that may be just what you need. In particular the 20-minute virtual consultation or local Family History Center are excellent sources of help.
We hope this helps and wish you good luck with your search.

We found your ancestors, Hendrich Kocks MJL3-S1K and Margaretha Franken MJL5-6K2 in the Family Tree program along with 7-children. Unfortunately, because there are not details about either individuals [such as dates or locations], the system would have a hard time finding information about their parents.
We do have a Search Records feature on the details page of our ancestors, however, this feature can only find sources for us based upon the information that has been added in Family Tree.
The suggestion provided by @MDR MT is probably the best way to continue your research for this family, however, we also wanted to mention that since FamilySearch is listed as the contributor for these two records, it means they were probably moved from one of our previous programs such as the Ancestral File, the Pedigree Resource File, or the IGI. These earlier genealogical programs were created through submissions made by FamilySearch users. Please review this additional article about searching in these Genealogies to see if you can locate additional information for this couple.
We wish you success with your continued research whether you choose to work with information that has been submitted by others, or if you simply get help through a virtual consultation or by searching in our Historical Records collections. Please keep in mind that with names only and no dates or locations it is harder to verify information since there can be many individuals with the same names.
