Troubleshooting Suggestions?
I was helping my friend index some Parish records from South Africa, and at one point we encountered a problem. We were trying to enter the information into the Entry Type field but it would only accept the full version of the information in stead of just auto-filling based on the first few letters (the field had a drop-down menu with 3 options). To be more specific, we were trying to say that the entry type was "Baptism", but it would erase any information we entered until someone pointed out that we should type the word in full. I don't understand why this would be the case because in the same batch in the "Event Month" field it was allowing us to type "d" and auto-filling to December (no other month starts with "d" but January, June and July all start with "J" so more letters are required). As I said before, we figured out a work-around but I think it would be beneficial to investigate this occurence. Thanks!

Thank you for letting us know of your issue with the program. We were not able to duplicate the issue; when we typed b in the Entry Type field, Baptism/Birth/Christening was highlighted and we were able to click on Enter and it was entered into the field. The only one we had to type the full name was for Marriage Intentions; we had to type marriage i in the field and then Marriage Intentions was highlighted and we clicked on Enter and it entered into the field.
Sometimes it helps to change the browser you are using. Chrome and Firefox seem to work the best with Indexing. Personally, I use Chrome.
You might also try deleting your cookies from FamilySearch by going to familysearch.org/cookies and deleting the cookies in there. If that still does not help, try deleting cookies and browsing history from your web browser. The next step would be to restart your computer.
The auto fill feature should be working for you and your friend. Please let us know if these steps do not help.
And thank you for helping your friend get started indexing; as well as the indexing you do, too.
