What records have you already looked at? What time frame are you researching? What records do you want to examine?

The only records that I can find start from the 1870s.
I am trying to find records between 1700s-pre 1930.
The records that I am looking for are birth, baptism, marriage, occupation, census, and death records.
I can only find a few birth, baptism, marriage, census, and death records on my ancestors and their relatives.
I am trying to find more, but I can't find exactly what I am looking for, due to the limitations in the database.
May you please help me out?
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Toussaint Joseph

Oh wow I can’t beleive That just happened ugh 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️ I had a very detailed response for you @Toussaint Joseph and when I went to post the photo, it took me out of the. Screen, when I came back my entire response was gone ugh! Please try this link ... I found an “Albert GALLATIN Bolling” listed here in one of the collections titled “Free Negro and Slave Records 1760-1862” which is just part of a huge collection! Please let us know if this is helpful or not, and tomorrow (after a few hours sleep 😴) I’ll see what else I can find for you 😊 I hope this is helpful! Good luck!

If these are African-American families records prior to 1865 will be difficult to find if they were slaves. Slaves were not listed by name on the federal census. There are 1850 and 1860 slave schedules but no slave names appear on the schedules. They were not allowed to marry as slaves so those records do not exist. If they were slaves it is important to know the name of the slave owner as slave names may be mentioned in the owners records. X24mom has listed some sources for you. You should take the time to check those out.

Also @Toussaint Joseph i read that sometimes slaves were included in probate records as “property” you may want to check out the probate records for the states and counties you are researching. I’m curious if the info we have shared with you has been helpful at all? Also, if you’d like to share more info such as names, dates, other family members etc., I will be more than happy to help you with your research. Just let me know 😊

Hello @ToussaintJoseph -
I did some research and found Edmonds/Edmunds/Edmundson at the websites listed below:
Forbears - Weldon Genealogy Records
Edmundson is the patronymic name of Edmonds/Edmonds. It actually means "son of Edmonds". Edmunds is a name variation of Edmonds as people often spelled the way they heard it pronounced. They are all of the same family.
