Standardized location information related to a wrong German federal state
For a long time I have been collecting personal data from deceased people who lived in Germany, among other places, in the towns of Radis, Uthausen and Schleesen. When entering, I still use the previously valid, standardized location information
"Radis, Wittenberg, Sachsen, Preußen, Deutschland"
"Uthausen, Wittenberg, Sachsen, Preußen, Deutschland"
and "Schleesen, Wittenberg, Sachsen, Preußen, Deutschland".
Although these are no longer offered by the system, they are still accepted. Instead (using Radis as an example), the following standardized location information is offered for recording:
"Radis, Wittenberg, Freistaat Sachsen, Deutschland"
This is supposed to be based on the current state organization, but is factually incorrect. The area between Bitterfeld and Wittenberg is now part of the German state of "Saxony-Anhalt". These places have not belonged to Saxony since 1815. The Kingdom of Saxony had to cede its northern territories to Prussia after the Napoleonic Wars. Please correct the standardized location information for the relevant locations. The information in Wikipedia can be helpful.
Many Thanks.

I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM
If you go to the page above you will read "Larger parent places cannot be added, such as county, country, province, region, or state" According to that a country like "Deutschland" does not exist for the LDS anymore. It is caled "Germany" now. I have the same Problem. For good old LDS "Österreich" does not exist anymore. We have to call it "Austria". For the last 900 years we cal our city "Wien". Than the LDS tells us we have to call it "Vienna" now. It goes on and on like that. I think, they do not care about our feelings, tradition or culture.

Dear Gottfried,
I've not checked IT yet .. but I'ld believer it's a rumor and "the problem's sitting in front of the screen" ... (and is talking about culture)
.. yes, they shortly changed things for instance for a specific time period to "deutsches Reich" and other things ..
But to argue about english names .. ?? Reason may be to change the language so you don't have to write here in english ;-) ..
