Temple Ready?

Because it follows the instructions of the Church's Temple and Family History Executive Council which is chaired by Elder Bednar. Current church policy allows those sealing to be completed when provided through Ordinances Ready without the individual ordinances being completed.

There are a number of "Knowledge Articles" in "FamilySearch" on the subject of, both, the preferred sequence (ie. order) of performing "Ordinances"; and, some of the reasons why "Ordinances" were performed 'out of order'.
.
And, although the (vicarious) "Ordinances" may have been/were performed 'out of (the preferred sequence of) order', they are still valid; and, become effective only after the prerequisite "Ordinances" are "Completed".

Here is the actual "Knowledge Articles" that answers your concern:

Why was a sealing ordinance done out of order?
Quote:
Ordinances Ready
The Ordinances Ready feature allows sealings to be done before the individual ordinances. While performing all ordinances in proper sequence is preferred, it is acceptable to perform sealing-to-spouse ordinances without checking that the individual ordinances have been performed.

I hope this helps.

ps: It is not "TempleReady" like before, it is now "OrdinancesReady".

That is also true for ordinances not through ordinance ready. I had sealing that I have been waiting on because someone else had the other ordinances resevered. Mine were going to expire so I contacted FamilySearch and was told I didn't need to wait, just do it.

Interesting. It was my thought that the ordinances needed to be done in sequence.

They ought to be done in sequence but it is not required. Years ago the Church was doing name extraction in England before the members were as involved as they are today. Extraction of marriages led to the sealings of couples even though the other ordinances hadn't been done yet.

It also depends on your Temple President's requirements. Our Temple President has just made it a requirement that the ordinances be performed in order unless special permission is given by him.

The sealing to parents is on the same card as the rest of the ordinances and needs to be done in order The sealing to couple is on a separate card., and I have also had it come up on Ordinances Ready to do and don't know if they rest of the ordinances are done or not. Since I have no way of knowing and the ordinances request comes through the OR system, I believe we just do them, if they are couple sealings. The sealings to parents I "believe" won't even come up unless the other work is completed. This is my understanding.

You can do SS out of order because it is printed on a separate card. According to Family History Ron Tanner you are allowed to do them. They are valid but not effective until all the other personal ordinances are done. If you look at it practically you could be waiting forever to get the SS done if you wait on the personal ordinances for the couple. It is the way of hastening the work that the wiki tree is providing on Family Search. If you can print the card, you can do the ordinance.

Even though the names are available to have the sealing ordinances completed before the other ordinances, it is still a good idea to check for duplicates! So often, there is a rush to get a name that many miss this step and may be doing double work. Just a reminder.

OR regularly offers me names for sealing to parent where the parents' preliminary ordinances are not completed. So it is easy to seal children to parents who are not yet endowed or sealed to each other, if you don't check the parents' summary cards first.

I often find duplicates hidden in source hints. They may not be appearing as a duplicate (red) hint but the source is already attached to someone with a different file number. It is an incomplete attachment that appears as a hint to the person you are working on. That is why I tell my patrons it is very important to attach all source hints (blue bubbles) before reserving ordinances.

That's OK. If Ordinances Ready gave you the name, you do not need to check the parents' ordinances status. Just complete the work.

We have been told that we can do sealings of children to their parents before the parents' ordinances are done because the sealing belongs to the child. For instance, if my great aunt was married, I can do the work for her husband including his sealing to his parents even though I can't do any work for his parents because I am not related to them.

Thank you. Yes, I see that I can go ahead if the system gives the names and understand that out-of-order ordinances are fully valid pending completion of the prerequisites. What I'd love clarified is why I should proceed when policy prefers ordinances to be done in order, as quoted by Brett above. What tips the scale to make going out of order better? (No need to mention the long wait for shared-to-temple prerequisite ordinances to get done, I have a bunch waiting there for years still unprinted.)

This is an interesting thread. At the temple nearest to me the sealers are always asking if the other ordinances have been done. Occasionally one has remarked that the sisters in the office give them a bad time if the "prerequisite ordinances" have not been done. Of course when you think about this carefully, you realize that we would have to start with Adam and come forward in time in order to do these ordinances in that order.
