Interesting note on marriage record

There is a note with it that someone believes says, "Tillysningen hævet paa Brudgoms forlangende." and Google translated, "The call was raised at the bridegroom's request." Can anyone tell me what that means? Were they actually married? Was there something more to this marriage? (The man was previously widowed, I believe.)

"Tillysningen hævet paa Brudgroms forlangende" means "the banns were published at the bridegroom's request/demand". See this article about "banns" (under "Engagement": https://www.familysearch.org/wiki/en/Scandinavia_Engagements_and_Marriages.

If the banns are published but the marriage date is not mentioned in the record, it may be because the couple decided not to get formally married, but still lived together.

Another possibility is that they broke the engagement and didn't marry. Usually, in that case, there would be a note indicating that was what happened. There is no note here indicating that.

A third possibility is that the groom and bride were from different parishes and the banns were read in both parishes but the marriage may be mentioned in only one parish record. Since the groom was from Ousted (Ovsted) -where this record was created-and the bride was from Taaning (Tåning) parish, the logical place to look for the marriage record would be Tåning parish, however, no marriage record for them exists there. If they did marry, it must have been in some other parish. There is an example of this same thing just above your record. Entry #2 has Widower and Master shoemaker Johan Fredrik Kryger of Horsen's parish marrying Ane Cathrine Nielsdatter of Eier (in Ovsted parish). The banns were published at the request/demand of the bride in Ovsted, but the marriage occurred in Horsens. I found that marriage here (entry #8): https://www.sa.dk/ao-soegesider/da/billedviser?bsid=395697#395697,74389629. (Oddly, the groom is the same but the bride's name is different. There is also a discrepancy in their ages, but it must be the same couple. The writer probably did not know the bride and made an error in the Horsen's record.)

A fourth possibility is that the marriage happened but simply didn't get recorded-somebody forgot to write it down!

One last thing, the Jevnforelses register indicates that the marriage took place in 1861 in Ovsted parish. Peder Knutsen and Dorthea Nielsen are listed in the "Marriage" column, with the page number 288 referring to the page of your original question.
