This birth record is taken from Kvevlax Parish in Vaasa, Finland. It is dated 24 October 1797 page 542. The Digihakemisto image is 274. I am including an attachment.
Question: It looks to me that Eric is the 2nd child born 24th October to Elias Isaacsson and Anna Ericsdotter. The first was a deadborn daughter. There is no death record listed around this date of birth in the Kvevlax Parish death records. Am I correct in my thinking?

You are absolutely correct! The record indicates the birth of a stillborn daughter at the same time as Eric's birth. It is curious that there is no record of a burial for the daughter-other stillborn children are listed in the death and burial records.

Actually, I take that back. There is a notation about Elias Isaacson's stillborn daughter but it is written really small on the last line of October. It is on the same line as the burial of Jacob Ericson who was 83 years old. It gives the burial date as 29 October.
