Looking for Marriage Information for Mary Finnegan LBLX-GX5
From @SDuell SDuell :I had a session during RootsTech with @Morris Geoffrey Fröberg and @Savannah.Larson Savannah.Larson. I think I don't have the right "view" because they could see information attached to my 3 great Grandmother Mary Finnegan, related to their wedding. Maybe I just don't know where to look. When we were sharing screens, I could see a register entry. I must admit, I wasn't paying close enough attention, because I thought I would be able to find it myself. Here is a link to my tree: https://www.familysearch.org/tree/pedigree/portrait/LBLX-GZ5 I am really hoping to find the marriage information...church, minister, etc. Any information you could provide would be most appreciated! Thank you!

Hello - Yes! New here. I was sending a link to my whole tree. I am looking for information on the marriage of my 3rd great grandparents: Mary Finnegan (GM7D-KLK ) and Antonius Gibson (GM7D-4MG)
Here is the exact item I am questioning: https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:FZLR-FNV I cannot see the actual document, only the description of what is on it. And I am hoping to find the name of the minister. This is one of two wedding listings that could be for my 3rd great grandparents. Here is the other: https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:FZLR-FNL
Ultimately, I am trying to determine where in Denmark my 3rd great grandfather was born. Thank you!

Good morning, I'm always happy to try to find the connections from America to Denmark. I can now see your ancestor Antonius and will see what I can do. Most often this takes a bit of time and a few records to make a solid case. Antonius is not as common as Hans or Christian so that's nice. There are nice census sources attached and I see an immigration year of 1860 so that's helpful. The marriage record shows Antonius was a seaman.

Thank you Shari. Yes, once he was here in the US he owned a boat - delivered seafood between NJ and NY....also owned a dock, and where they were was called "Gibson Beach". Sadly, I don't believe it is still called that!

I have not made an adequate link between the man in America and the one I believe matches from Denmark. But, I've entered the Danish information for Jep Antoni Jepsen that can be easily merged when and if you feel it is the correct person. 27PC-WP7 I'm hoping to find a small detail that connects the two men, but it is highly probable they are the same due to unique name, same birth month/year.

yes! I had seen this along the way (After RootsTech I did a deep dive, signed up for a lot of things - and got lots of "tidbits"). I am hoping that if maybe we can locate the church in New Jersey where they were married, there might be more information in their records. We do not have any documents that predate his arrival in the US. :-(

I do believe I've found the connection that makes a solid case for the Danish man I have found. This marriage record of 3 October 1872 for Antony Gipson and Mary Finigan, in Red Bank, Monmouth, New Jersey names the parents of Antony as Mathias and mother Ann. This fits well with the Danish records. The original image can be seen by reviewing the film Name:Antony Gipson
Gender:Male
Marriage Date:3 Oct 1872
Marriage Place:Red Bank, Monmouth, New Jersey, USA
Father:Mathias Gipson
Mother:Ann Gipson

I am unable to explain why there are two marriage records with different dates and years, but they appear to be the same individuals.

Suzanne, you don't need to be at a FHC to view the record. Did you try clicking on the blue link? You must have a FamilySearch account and logged in.

Hi Again -
Based on what you sent - do you think this could be the same person?

Yes, I do believe it is the same person. I've created this individual in the FS tree and is ready to be merged with your original person, but I didn't want to do it in the event you wanted to. Of course I believe it is accurate and will help if you need me to merge the two individuals. https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/details/27PC-WP7
