Deciphering baptism record
Birth and baptism of Marthe Nielsdatter
Is this the same event, 12 May 1793 near bottom left of page and 26 June on the right side?
Can any helpful details be read? Marthe may not be in the right family: there is a Niels Olsen Indre-Hals and a Niels Olsen Yttre-Hals. There is a next door neighbor Niels Olsen at Wiig, Saltdalens Prest.

Marthe perhaps has a sister Peternelle b. 1790. The 1801 census for one of the N. Olsen Hals families has a ten year old Pernelle. Same name? Her record:

Thank you again!

These sure look to be the same event. Both occurred on Dominica Exaudi, that is, May 12, 1793. (I don’t see the June 26 date you mention.)
Father in both is Niels Ols: Hals. (I’ve generally found that if two men of the same name lived on the same or similar farms that there was some type of differentiation made in situations like this.)
Both took place ast Sikjerstad Kirke.
The only difference is in the list of godparents/witnesses:
1) Term I can’t read, Ole Christophers. Viig, Berith Hansd., Ane Hansd, Marthe Knudsd Hals.
2) Christian Bolgen, Ole Christophers. Viig, Berith Hansd Viig, Marthe Knudsd.
Did it have to be re-recorded to correct the list of godparents/witnesses?
The solution to this puzzle might lie in the two words I’ve circled in blue but can’t read. The first one looks kind of like “forg.” Is this an abbreviation for “forrige,’ that is, “previous”? I hope someone else can interpret that phrase.
I would consider Peternelle and Pernelle to be the same name, as are Peter, Peder, and Per.

Thank you. My mistake - there is a 29 Juni on the entry above the second record and FamilySearch has indexed the baptism as being on that day. Adding to my confusion.
Attempting to match these families up. Marthe is given a marriage and children but if she lived, she should be on the census in 1801. Trying to prove or disprove that my uncles Niels Olsen L1MR-NG5 and Niels Olsen 2WM3-BWF are the same person in first and second marriages.

Looking at the 1801 census at:
https://www.digitalarkivet.no/census/person/pf01058474000003
It certainly fits just fine for those two Niels Olsens you list to be the same person and to go ahead and merge them. That still leaves Martha as a concern as to whether the one listed in Family Tree is a combination of two different Marthas, which Niels Olsen in the census the one born in 1793 belongs to, and who the one that grew up and got married really was. Your first step is probably to go page by page in the parish record from 1793 to 1801 and see if there is a death record for Martha or not.

Here is the marriage record for Martha Nielsdatter and Hans Pederson as shown in Family Tree:
https://www.digitalarkivet.no/kb20071030610230
This record just states Martha Nielsdatter of Lund. No age. No parents. No mention of Hals. Basically nothing in the marriage record to tie her to the 1793 birth record at all.
However! In the 1801 census there is a Martha Nielsdatter born 1793 living at Lund and listed as the foster daughter of Peder Hansen and his wife Else Olsdatter. It could have been that when Martha's mother died, that Niels couldn't care for her and so gave her to this other couple to care for.

This is were I really like bygdebøker. Often the authors had access to more records than I can find and read. That may be where the people who originally entered the information about Martha got it from.
