Who was the old woman living with Anders Andersson-Bergman and his wife Karin Olsson?
The household survey for 1788 in Hofberga records an old woman, Anna, born 1704 died in 1787 at the age of 83. Her last name is not given but the death records, ArkivDigital: Östervåla (C, U) C:4 (1780-1803) Image: 142 an Anna Andersdotter of Hofberga, died Dec 16, buried Dec 23 at age 83 but it doesn't say who her husband was. I make this note here because I suspect she could be Anders Andersson-Bergman's sister and maybe never did marry.
She is listed with Anders Bergman's family in the following household surveys for Hofberga, Ostervala:

Anna is a widowed wife. No relationship mentioned.

It seems that sometimes when a wife's husband dies she takes the last name of her husband which she doesn't use while he is still living. Have you seen this practice? Could this Anna Andersson be the widow of an Andersson? I have a feeling she is connected somehow to the Anders Bergman family but I can't figure out how. What do you think?

In this case this old widow Anna is AndersDOTTER in death record, thus it only means that she is a Anders's daughter. There is no information who her husband was.
It could be possible that there is some relationship to Anders Bergman, but it is not shown here.
It is also possible that she is just some old widowed woman with no other place to live and Anders Bergman chose to give her roof over her head, place to sleep and some food.
That practice, that widow takes her husbands last name came much later into use, and it was not used in everywhere.

Thank you. I had not considered that the name was AndersDOTTER as you said so of course that wouldn't be her husband's name. Maybe I'm just seeking for a connection that just isn't there. Anders, Andersdotter, and Andersson are so common there could be no connection at all. Thanks.
