Children of 1st or 2nd marriage?
In the 1787 census Jørgen Hansen is noted as having been married twice, and his wife Kiersten married once. It looks like the children are identified as having been from the first marriage, so they would be Kiersten's stepchildren. However, based on a 1768 marriage record for Jørgen and Kiersten and the kids births it looks like they are her children. Does the census say they are from the first marriage? In the column directly to the right of the children's names, it states "Børn af sidste ægteskab," meaning "children of last marriage"--this is ambiguous, as it could mean the last of the two (i.e., the second) marriage or it could mean the previous (i.e., the first) marriage. However, if the 1768 marriage is of the same couple (it might be good to double-check, as the couple has very common names), then the children are all from the second marriage--it would be worth it to look for Jørgen's first wife's death shortly before the 1768 marriage and to then look for children from that first marriage.

Thank you. It's a tough one: I had looked and didn't see another marriage record for a couple with the same name, and I also had found an earlier marriage for Jørgen, but then I couldn't find the death for that earlier wife. All things seem to point to these being the children of the second marriage, Jørgen and Kiersten but it's not proven.
