Norway Marriage Translations
In Romfo, Sunndal, More og Romsdal I have a marriage record that needs help with translation.
Can someone check what I see in the record on page 396 line 1 (left page on top)?
Ole Taraldsen (36 years old) married Marit Knutsdatter (30 years old)
Ole is from Svisdal farm?
Marit is from Gjora farm?
Married 25 February 1821
Are the father names and farm they are from on this record? If so can someone tell me what they are?

Thanks!!!

Thanks for the information. Just wondering, does it show the father or parent's names on this record? I see an Anders and not sure of his last anem, but don't know if this column is a parent or witness. Thanks!

Looks like the transfer to the new site lost some things, like the date of posts. Or did you really post this on January 24? I agree with the names of the couple as you have them. As far as the place names, these are where the two are currently living. If one of the couple is young it is likely where they are from unless the family moved a lot. Also, it seems that women were more likely to stay on their home farm until marriage. So while the record says Marit currently resides at Gjøra, being 30 and being a woman, she was most likely from there as well.
With Ole being 36, there is a reasonable chance he has moved away from home so you can't assume he was from the farm listed without other evidence.
This is difficult handwriting, but I am very confident that the farm Ole is at ends in "ld." Going to the 1801 census for Romfo and doing a residence search for *ld brings up the farm Liagield and comparing that to what is written in the record, it matches. So that is where Ole was living when he got married.
The record does not contain any father's names. Just the witnesses names, Anders Solland and Ingebrigt Gield Moen.
