Help with Danish Probate Record
Dorthe Larsdatter, wife of Niels Jensen died February 1794. I have found her probate, which accurately lists her children and their ages. A few questions:
1) Her husband is identified as Niels Jensen Møller. Does this mean he was a miller?
2) What is the relationship of Hans Christensen and other signatories (also mentioned in the document)?
3) After the first record, there are at least 5 additional records in the book referencing the family and apparently the probate. What was happening? I know it's a lot of records to go through- any suggestions on how to understand it all?

Hi #[DebbieRose DebbieRose],
Here is what I see:
1) Her husband is identified as Niels Jensen Møller. Does this mean he was a miller? Yes Møller means Miller.
2) What is the relationship of Hans Christensen and other signatories (also mentioned in the document)? Jens Nielsen is the acting probate authority under authority of Justitz Raad Bruun. Jens Nielsen is overseeing the process. Hans Silladsen? and Laust Hansen are assessors for all the items in the household. Dorthe Lasdatter is the deceased. Belongings are registered with an assessed value to be divided between the widower and the heirs namely a daughter Anne Nielsen 12 3/4 years old, a son Jens Nielsen 11 years old, a son Las Nielsen 6 years old, a son Lambert Nielsen 3 1/2 years old. A guardian named Hans Christensen of Tiereborg (Tjæreborg) was appoointed to protect the inheritance of the children.
3) After the first record, there are at least 5 additional records in the book referencing the family and apparently the probate. What was happening? I know it's a lot of records to go through- any suggestions on how to understand it all? The lower half of page 129 (right side) is the inventory of belongings. The inventory continues on both sides of page 130. The proceedings end at the bottom of 131 (left side) where you see the signatures at the bottom. Signatures include J. Nielsen, Nils Jensen Møller, the guardian Hans Christensen, and the assessors Hans Sillasen and Laust Hansen.
