I seek a translator for a short, 1780 letter from a farm in Hjartdal, Telemark Co, NO.
The letter is not in the best condition -- 80% of its dialectic cursive remains. Some is faded. I don't speak Norwegian, but over the last decade I've worked to transcribe and translate. I've translated the name of an ancestor, and with some excellent help, a few words. The letter was pasted inside a small wooden box engraved with a name, symbols, possible bumerkers and dates. I hope to learn at least the general meaning of the letter.

Do you have a copy of what you've transcribed that you could share with us?

Thank you for asking, Savannah, and thank you for Saturday's presentations! I've attached my best shot at a tracing and transcription of the letter. The tracing is color-coded: black - good confidence; blue - fair confidence; magenta - just estimated. My transcription is also coded. I certainly appreciate your consideration! Joe White
