Trying to make a connection, maybe with a move record?
Hello! I am trying to make a connection for Kirsten Sorensdatter K451-BS5. There are a lot of possible sources for her marriage, kids, death (and someone has added some of the dates of the possible sources). I just don't feel comfortable adding those sources and keeping those dates and places when I'm not sure they are for the same Kirsten Sorensdatter (I think it's a pretty common name!). I can't find a birth date--just a year--on those possible sources to connect them to my Kirsten. I've seen move records before but I don't know how to find one to see if she moved out of her village and to one where she could have met the potential husband. If you could help me, I'd be so grateful!

One fact that might help you is her vaccination date (20 November 1814) seen on her confirmation. This date could make a link to the correct individual if it is seen on a marriage record. You can start looking for a moving out of the parish record following her confirmation here. https://www.sa.dk/ao-soegesider/da/billedviser?bsid=395151#395151,74376214 If you don't see her moving out then I'd look for marriage or death.

These two census records are important for your evaluations.

Thank you Shari! The 1850 Census helps make that connection to her birth place! I had seen the source, but couldn't make out the birth place and it wasn't in the transcription on Family Search. I will get to work! I really appreciate the direction and help you've given me!

If the 1850 census on the right matches your family then we should find a christening for Kirsten in Bryrup parish and maybe a marriage. The 1860 census in Ovsted also shows birthplace of Kirsten as Bryrup parish.

It is excellent that you are reviewing this family, especially the parents because it is possible there is another couple with the exact same names in the general area.

Thanks for the hints Shari! Yes, all of these are the right family. They moved around Skanderborg County a lot! (Their middle child, Else Marie Pedersen shows up in most of the census records and Kirsten is about 6 years older than Peder.) One thing that has thrown me off a little is that some of the indexing has been incorrect and so I've had to carefully check all the records that have come up as hints. I've already dismissed a few from another couple with the same names and child's name. I really appreciate your expertise!

Thank you for the kind words. It is very satisfying when someone like yourself wants to get the correct information and does the work to make discoveries. I'm happy to help any time. Another great tool for study is the Danish Military Levying roll that especially helps with tracking men when they exist between the 1801-1834 censuses.
