Is Salve Thormonsen the same person as Salve Thorgrimsen in the attached record?
Salve Thormonsen and Aasne Kolbonsdatter had a son, Thorger christened in Fjotland, Vest-Agder, Norway 14 November 1790. Recorded in the next column of the Hægebostad parish record, Salve Thorgrimsen Fjotland had a daughter (unspecified age) buried 1 February 1791. Salve Thorgrimsen Fjotland married Aasne Kolbentsdatter 2 December 1789 in Fjotland. Children: Anne 1792, Thorgrim 1796, and Gunvor 1799. Salve Thorgrimsen Fjotland died 1801. The 1801 census for Fjotland shows Aasne Kolbensdatter as a 36 year old widow with children Anne, Thorgrim and Gunvor as listed above. I have sourced each of these from the parish records. Question: Is it most probable that the minster entered Thrormonsen in error and that Thormonsen is really Thorgrimsen, and that the death of Salve and Aasne's 1st child was recorded as a girl in error also?

Here is a bit of speculation for you. Since the girl child in the death record has neither name nor age, I would take this to mean that she was never christened and that she died at birth or within hours. If that was the case, then you are potentially looking at a set of twins.
The entry after her lists a dødfødt child. Since she is not listed as such, she might have lived a few days. Burial dates could be weeks or months after a person's actual death date.
However, Thorgrim and Thormon are such different names, it is hard to picture the minister making that big of an error.

Gordon, thanks for your input. I did a search by batch number for Fjotland (Fiotland) christenings 1760 - 1815 searching fathers named Salve. I've highlighted the cells of most interest. As I study the name Salve Thorgrimsen/Thormonsen, they are both connected to Aasne Kolbensdatter (various sp.). From this, I believe them to be the same person. Your suggestion that there was a twin is possible. There is no twin mentioned in Thorger Thormonsen's christening 14 November. If there was a twin, it wasn't stillborn since it was buried 5 November of 1791. I've also attached a spreadsheet of the witnesses to each christenings for the children of Slave Thormonsen/Thorgrimsen. Again, the witness list matches up very well for each of them. This again supports Thormonsen/Thorgrimsen as the same person. But the snag is the sex of the child buried in February. I have the marriage record of Salve Thorgrimsen and Aasne Kolbentsdatter in 1789.
The Excel files can't be uploaded to this page so I'll send those with e-mail.
