"Same name" problems in the Danish military
How did the military in Denmark handle regiments full of men with the same names? Did they do like the Swedish military and assign new surnames?

No they didn't which is too bad because it was a good idea.

What they did do however is they recorded the age birth parish and father of each person. In Sweden they only give you the province of birth
