Danish word - lægd?

I have searched all over the internet and cannot find this Danish word. The "Danish Word List" on the right side of this page appears to be a broken link - I get an error anyway. Looking at lægd in context when I find it as part of other words like lægdsruller, I can see it has something to do with the military. Does it have a meaning by itself?

A lægd is a military district. Often it has the same boundaries as a parish.
