Hi @Jacklynn Nelson,
Forrest and I took a look at this and I think have found some more context to the story. Although there is an online reference to the Jämtland Army Rangers, I think Fältjägare in this context of 1810 would be infantryman. So it reads that the infantryman Asten Nilsson Tång was with the campaign to Norway to a place called Sul (which was invaded by the Swedes in May of 1808). He also defended the attack on Hjerpe Skans (Hjerpe Skans is a land defense fort where they built up earthen mounds and set cannons. It happens to be in Undersåker parish). Hjerpe (which appears as Jer(minus the "p")en Skans is in the record but it looks like he had a hard time writing it. He realized the mistake and tried to go back and fix it), anyway it continues that Asten was with the campaign to Umeå against the Russians (Finnish war 1808 - 1809). I would assume that Asten was on his way back from the campaign when he got sick with fältsjuka which means military fever. From what I've read, its a sickness that soldiers would get in campaigns due to the large amount of soldiers essentially living together on the campaign. They had a poor diet, contaminated water or the like. It seems he died on the way back from the Finnish war when he got the sickness and they brought his body back to Undersåker to be buried because I think the "Do" refers to April 23 was buried on the entry above.
