John A Malmberg
Hey, I’m trying to locate information on my great great great grandfather. His name is John A Malmberg...but his last name from what I’m told in Sweden was Carlson or Karlsson. He was born December 2, 1845 and from what I’ve read he was either married to Eva Charlson or a Sophia. He has a sister named Sophia. He traveled to America in 1869 & started out in Kansas and ended up in miller county Missouri. I am looking for information from his Swedish roots...really anything. I’m really hoping for his parents names & possible birthdates. I have researched this for about 2 weeks & cannot seem to come up with this info. It’s like he didn’t even exist in Sweden. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you! 😊

Hello Sarah,
It's helpful for those assisting to see the sources already found. https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/sources/LDRL-75M
There are errors, John can't be born to a mother who is 7 years old as seen in the FS tree. The christening record attached indicates his mother is Maja Persdotter. A possible record for your study. https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:9396-J5DM-M?i=278&cc=1978775

Here is a household record of a Carl Johansson born 27 Dec 1818 who has a son Johannes (Johan is the same name) born 2 Dec 1845 which matches the information in Family Search Tree for Carl Johansson (GW7L-NYD). This may be worth looking into: https://sok.riksarkivet.se/bildvisning/00080551_00072#?c=&m=&s=&cv=71&xywh=129%2C527%2C1936%2C1017 .
Edit:
This is Johannes' birth record in Malma, Skaraborg (now Västra Götaland), Sweden 2 Dec 1845: https://sok.riksarkivet.se/bildvisning/C0051639_00015#?c=&m=&s=&cv=14&xywh=3197%2C3249%2C2721%2C1461 .
Edit 2: This shows Johannes going to North America in 1869. Seems like it must be the correct person (line 3): https://sok.riksarkivet.se/bildvisning/00080552_00107#?c=&m=&s=&cv=106&xywh=-530%2C-86%2C7056%2C3488 .
