How to find birthplace and parents of Norwegian and Danish ancestors in 1700s
I have engagement and marriage records of my 4th great grandparents in 1795, and records of their children's baptisms, and also the 1801 Danish census. Are there documents which would show their birthplaces and names of their parents? I believe the wife (Dorothea Hansdatter b. 1765c) was born in Denmark and the husband (Johannes Pedersen b. 1764c) in either Denmark or Norway. @Norm Baker found the engagement record for me and I'd already found the marriage, but now I want to try and discover their parents please.

Hello,
Have you followed this couple until their deaths? I like to do that because it's possible their older parents live with them. The names of their children may follow naming patterns of the grandparents. It is possible for them to live until the 1845 census which would give their place of birth, but they would be in their early 80s. Study to see who are the witnesses at the christening of their children, grandparents could be involved.

Thank you, Shari. I haven't found anything about either of them between 1804 when a son was baptised, and the death of the wife in 1827. Regarding the names, one of their children has an unusual name - Farel Peter, b.1804. Haven't been able to find anything at all about him after his baptism. It's all a bit of a mystery.
