Here's a good history of Vilna, perhaps not back far enough, but it may give clues. https://www.ucis.pitt.edu/nceeer/2004_819-06g_Weeks.pdf

thanks. I posted on radzima. I found " in 1865 it consisted of three villages of the Sventsyansky district of Vilna province [7] : as part of Vishnevsky volost Pig 1 numbered 44 revision souls , belonged to the estate of Ipolitovo Kozlovsky ; Pig 2 numbered 29 revision souls, belonged to the estate Spyaglitsa Kersnovsky "
My grandfather was from Pig (Svinka) 2. Do you know where I can find more information on the nobleman Kersnovsky?.

I have searched everywhere I can think of, and find nothing on the nobleman Kersnovsky. "Spyaglitsa" appears to be the name of a place. Let us know if you find anything!

Thanks. It is a river. "Initially known as Gozdava [6] , then until 1964 they were called Spyaglitsa (along a river flowing nearby).
Until 1603, they were in the possession of the Guts , when they were sold to Rafal , the son of Andrzej Sulistrovsky . According to the documents of 1740 belonged to Michal Sulistrovsky and his wife Anna (nee Stakhovsky ). Later passed into the possession of the Kersnovsky .

Glenn, after you mentioned that it appears to be a place, I used Radzima.net to find it and then used wikipedia https://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D0%A1%D0%B2%D0%B5%D1%82%D0%B8%D0%BB%D0%BE%D0%B2%D0%B8%D1%87%D0%B8_(%D0%93%D1%80%D0%BE%D0%B4%D0%BD%D0%B5%D0%BD%D1%81%D0%BA%D0%B0%D1%8F_%D0%BE%D0%B1%D0%BB%D0%B0%D1%81%D1%82%D1%8C)
Thanks
