Can't access updates of the deleted person
I can't access the updates about the deleted person, which contain ways to contact the submitter with information about the person.

Does this get you to the information you want to see?
Go to the Change Log of the current profile and filter by merges:
Click on the name of the deleted person:
Click on the name again or click Person:
Click Show All in the latest changes box to open the change log for the delete profile and see every user who has ever edited anything on the profile:
